This isn't a trimmed slice. The demo is the complete first act — from the wolf attacks and the reveal behind your father's case to the showdown that clears the Blacktide Gang out of Lujin Harbor. Rushing the main story takes about four hours; learning the systems and doing a round of side quests is six to eight hours or more.
- The complete first act: Luzhou Village → Official Road → Lujin Harbor, all the way to the Blacktide chief, ending on a hook that points at something much bigger.
- A party of four, and the raising that comes with it: Allocate stats, learn martial arts and inner arts, push through circuits of cultivation; recruit companions; pick one of three starter pets at the village chief's house right at the start; level your mount and race it.
- Five sects: All open at Lv10 (three of their mountain gates sit outside the demo map, so you travel there through the sect panel), with sect quest chains and Sect Arts to master.
- Six World Events: Spring Festival Lantern Fair, Horse Racing Festival, Sect Grand Match, Youth Heroes Meet, Five Sects Martial Meet and Supreme Sect War — every one a 3D venue you actually walk into; some have seasonal or entry conditions.
- Eight town minigames: Three casino tables (dice, slots, blackjack), Chicken Chase, Dock Carry, Martial Spar, fishing and the Spring Festival lantern riddles. Your results go into the achievements panel.
- State of mind, and more: The Inner Demon, five inner voices, the Storyteller and the pressure gauge; bounties (Lv15), encounters, forging, and a romance you can take your time with.

About This Game
Wuxia Life is a single-player wuxia RPG set on the fictional island of Yingzhou. You begin in Luzhou Village, investigating your father's death and the truth of your origins. The clues he left behind lead you into sect rivalries, rumors across the jianghu, the shadow of the Blacktide Gang, and a Yingzhou slowly falling out of balance.
Some people refuse to speak. Some leave only half a sentence. Others hide the truth in old letters, torn manuals, and drunken rumors. You are not only hunting for an enemy — you are trying to understand the path your father once walked, and why Yingzhou is being pulled into the Blacktide.
On this journey, you will join martial sects, befriend companions, build bonds, capture pets, forge equipment, and decide again and again who you want to become amid the pull of Killing Intent, Compassion, Pride, Dao Heart, and Guile.

In-game footage — every choice in a conversation is heard by the voices within
Five Inner Voices, Inner Demons
& the Heavenly Storyteller
Your choices do not simply change a morality score. They make certain voices within you grow louder. As your decisions accumulate, inner demons may build and trigger dangerous breakdown events under pressure.
-
殺Killing Intent KILLING INTENT
Blood must answer blood. No more waiting.
-
悲Compassion COMPASSION
Even in pain, do not let hatred live your life for you.
-
傲Pride PRIDE
Be no one's shadow, and let no bloodline define you.
-
道Dao Heart DAO HEART
Truth must be revealed, but justice needs a line it will not cross.
-
機Guile GUILE
Read the board first, then decide when to strike.
The Heavenly Storyteller — the same road through the jianghu
leaves different echoes depending on what you choose
The Heavenly Storyteller drives events, rumors and clues through three narrative rhythms — the righteous path, the hidden path and the chaotic path — while watching your pressure gauge: too famous and rivals come for you, too quiet and you're invited into the ring, too poor and you stumble into cheap opportunities.
Righteous
A steady, gradual pressure curve — rivals arrive in measured numbers, and chances come just often enough for you to grow. Made for a first journey into Yingzhou.
Steady growthHidden
Long stretches of calm, then one major event breaks out. For players who want to focus on training, friendships and cultivation — fewer events, but every one leaves a mark.
Long-form cultivationChaotic
Dense random events, encounters and chances colliding. For veterans and second runs — even you won't know what comes next.
High dramaIn-game clip — ATB combat and 3D battlefields
ATB Combat &
6 Active Skill Slots
Combat follows an ATB rhythm, where speed affects the order of actions. You can manually control each move, or enable auto-battle for low-pressure fights and material farming.
- 6 active skill slots: Build around cooldowns, weapon requirements, equipment affixes, and party roles.
- Speed controls: Switch between 1x / 2x / 4x / 8x battle speed.
- Smart auto-battle: It picks skills on its own and guards when a Boss charges up; Boss ultimates get a full-screen presentation.
- 3D battlefields: Character positioning, skill effects, impact feedback, and combat pacing.
- Dungeon challenges: Waves, bosses, drops, staged encounters, and clear rewards.
In-game clip — sect initiation, missions and promotion events
Five Martial Sects & Where You Stand
Yingzhou's jianghu features five martial sects you can join. Each sect has its own initiation, martial arts path, missions, and promotion events. In the demo, all five sects open at Lv10.
Companions, Bonds,
Pets & Mounts
You do not have to walk Yingzhou alone. Along the way you can recruit companions, build bonds, capture pets, obtain mounts, and shape your own party of four.
- Companions: Recruited through quests, each filling different combat roles.
- Bond characters: Affection events, exclusive skills, and combo techniques; seven bond storylines, each with its own finale.
- Pets: Capture, raise, deploy, and gain skills or battle bonuses — pick one of three starter pets at the village chief's house right at the start.
- Mounts: Travel speed, terrain suitability, selected activities (such as horse racing) and combat abilities.

The Jianghu Remembers You
Yingzhou is not a map that simply waits for quests to be accepted. What you say, whom you spare, whom you kill, and which lines you cross may all leave traces in the world.
These systems are not here just to add more items to a feature list. Their goal is to make you feel that Yingzhou slowly remembers what you have done. Some key scenes happen only once — saving someone on a rainy night, your master's last trust, a childhood friend coming to find you, the choice to retire.
- IA rival from a martial arts tournament may remember your choices.
- IIA childhood friend may leave you a protective charm.
- IIIYour master may entrust you with an old sword at a critical moment.
- IVPassersby may talk about local rumors, whispers, and things you recently did.
- VWanted criminals have their own obsessions, and sparing or killing them both leave consequences.
A Playable Jianghu Loop
The current version includes multiple lines of progression that can be pursued in parallel. You can focus on following the clues your father left behind, or first strengthen your party, sect progression, pets, equipment, and resource routes before returning to face the Blacktide of Yingzhou.
- Main story, side quests, bond quests, daily tasks, and sect mission chains.
- Sect training, sect tournaments, martial arts tournaments, and arena ranks.
- Martial matchmaking events, wanted bounties, escort routes, and world encounters.
- Forging, alchemy, crafting, enhancement, collection logs, in-game achievements, and ending collection.
- Martial art fragments, moments of insight, secret realms, dungeons, boss challenges, and late-game trials.
Six World EventsWorld Events
Every one of them is a 3D venue you actually walk into, not a menu. Some have seasonal or entry conditions — the Lantern Fair, for example, only opens in the first month of the year.

Your Wuxia Life, unlike anyone else's
Determined together by level, fame, karma, marriage, faction stance and main-story flags. Endings are mutually exclusive — which one this life leads to depends on the choices you make for your protagonist.
To see the whole picture you have to walk again — whose life will you live the first time, and what will you choose to let go of the second?
Wuxia Life is no longer just a concept demo —
it is a playable 0.9-series build.
I chose Early Access because the part that needs the most refinement is not simply whether these features exist. It is whether the journey through Yingzhou feels meaningful enough. As an independent developer, player feedback will directly shape the direction of the full release — Early Access is not about handing players an unfinished game, but about letting players help make this jianghu better.
- ✓Main story: starting from Luzhou Village and moving into the Official Road, Lujin Harbor and other regions of Yingzhou, centered on the human martial world, the truth about your father and the Blacktide Gang's undercurrent
- ✓ATB combat, 6 active skill slots, speed controls and auto-battle, 3D battle scenes
- ✓Five sects: each with its own martial arts path, initiation, missions and promotion events
- ✓Five Inner Voices and inner demons, breakdown events, the Heavenly Storyteller's three rhythms
- ✓Party and growth: recruitable companions, bond characters, pets, mounts, equipment, titles and martial art fragments
- ✓Jianghu memory and rumors, one-time events (a rescue on a rainy night, your master's trust, a childhood friend seeking you, the choice to retire)
- ✓Jianghu activities: escort routes, bounties, martial matchmaking, world encounters, sect tournaments, martial arts tournaments and arena ranks
- ✓Crafting and collection: forging, alchemy, crafting, enhancement, equipment affixes, collection logs, in-game achievements and multiple endings
- ✓Save safety: multiple character slots, manual / auto saves, emergency backups, export / import save packages
- ◇Bug fixes, balance adjustments and UI details
- ◇Quest flow, map guidance, side-quest density and mid-to-late-game pacing
- ◇The emotional pacing of the father storyline, the Blacktide Gang and Yingzhou's main arc
- ◇More bond events, sect events, secret realm content and ending echoes
- ◇Real-hardware verification and polish of Steam Achievements and Steam Cloud integration
- ◇The 3D venue upgrade is only partway done: the six World Event venues plus the Chicken Chase, Dock Carry, horse racing, Martial Spar and stable scenes have 3D venues (the casino and fishing are procedural 3D)
- ◇The English text is still being proofread line by line — if you spot leftover Chinese or awkward phrasing, please report it
- ◇Combat numbers and raising guidance: making "what to go raise next" clearer, not nerfing the Bosses
- ◇Some panel transitions and animations are still being smoothed out
Building on the 0.9 series to make the main story, system feedback, content density and overall stability more complete: refining the emotional pacing of the father storyline, the Blacktide Gang and Yingzhou's main arc; adding more bond events, sect promotion events, side quests and ending echoes; expanding "the jianghu remembers you" systems; continuing to adjust ATB combat pacing, sect balance, skill cooldowns, pets and mount values; improving UI, map guidance, quest hints, tutorial flow and mid-to-late-game pacing; continuing to polish the ink-wash inspired UI, maps, scenes and presentation assets; evaluating adjustable difficulty and assist-mode options; verifying and improving Steam Achievements and Steam Cloud integration.
After the full release, I will also evaluate the possibility of Steam Workshop or other player-created content support. These are long-term considerations, and I do not want to promise specific features or release dates before they are realistic.
During Early Access, Wuxia Life will be offered at a more accessible price, as thanks to early players who support the game mid-development. As content expands, systems stabilize and the main story and bond events become more complete, I plan to adjust the price gradually as version 1.0 approaches. Players who buy during Early Access keep receiving all later updates through the full release, without needing to buy the game again.
I will mainly interact with players through the Steam discussions, Steam announcements and dev logs. I'm a solo developer and there's a limit to what I can do, but I read every report and suggestion.
- Steam discussions: Report bugs, make suggestions or share your playthrough.
- Bug report form: There's also a "Report a Problem" button in the in-game settings panel that fills in your version and location automatically.
- Wish board: Features you want, things you think should change — post them there.
- Around major updates: When needed, I'll use surveys or polls to collect player views on key system changes.

AI Generated Content Disclosure
The developers describe how their game uses AI Generated Content like this:
All in-game visual art assets in this title — including item icons, equipment artwork, character portraits, story illustrations, and UI decorative elements (frames, icons, and background textures) — are produced using OpenAI's ChatGPT image generation and xAI's Grok image generation API as core tools within our ink-wash and gongbi-style art pipeline. Every generated asset is reviewed, curated, manually retouched, and compositionally adjusted by the developer before being incorporated into the game. No real person's likeness has been used.
The game's source code is written by the developer, Kevin Chen, with OpenAI Codex and Anthropic Claude Code used as coding assistants during development. In-game narrative and dialogue text are written by the developer, with portions assisted by Anthropic Claude for polishing and proofreading.
